Upper Row Farm is a small 100 acre farm in Laverton located close to Frome, Radstock, Trowbridge and Bath. It is a family run farm with a breeding flock of sheep, a herd of Pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle, small goat herd and arable land. We are part of Higher Level Stewardship which means we promote sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture and education.
We also run a day service twice a week, providing opportunities for individuals to experience life and work in a real farm based environment. Working with adults with learning difficulties and physical impairments we promote daily living, social and employment skills in a safe and fun environment. The day service is for small groups and so offers opportunities for people to work on individual tasks or in smaller groups as well as promoting the importance of team work. Our clients get directly involved with work on the farm with activities ranging from (but not limited to!) mucking out, planting and growing vegetables, flowers and fruit, working with the animals and environment and lambing. We are keen to support people to get involved with whatever crops up throughout the year, whatever their needs may be, to facilitate their learning and development. We promote and encourage people to work closely with the horses, goats, dogs and chickens (to name a few of our animals).
We are not open to the public as this is a working farm however, schools can visit the farm as part of our Stewardship scheme for free – please contact us for more details. We do sometimes run open days, lambing days or private visit sessions on the farm – these will be announced on the website so please come back soon to see if we have any plans.
Please get in touch with us if you would like to know more about the day service or school/educational visits or if you are interested in a private visit. See our Contact page for information.
